When we talk about agriculture we often think about soil and forget about our oceans and rivers. Today’s guests are three people dedicating their lives to restoring our oceans through sustaining oysters and their habitat in Long Island Sound - along the Connecticut Shoreline. Tim Macklin and Todd Koehnke join us from CORR - Collective Oyster Recycling and Restoration, and Kim Granbery a wild oyster farmer, joins us from Leetes Island Oysters. They share some of the details of their stewardship work through shell recycling, reef building, and raising oysters which helps counter the harms of over harvesting and climate challenges. Their work helps to rebuild habitat, filter water, prevent erosion, and cultivate biodiversity as well as a love of oysters and our ocean and water ways.

Todd Koehnke and Tim Macklin at the CORR shell pile in East Haven, CT where they bring shells recycled from CT restaurants and seafood processors to cure in the sun and rain before “planting” them back in Long Island Sound to rebuild oyster reefs.
